SISAC Boys Soccer D1 & D2 Sabres
Our D1 Boys were very competitive this year in the the regular season and peaked in performance at the tournament. They ended the day with 2 wins and 2 losses for a 6th place finish at the Cup. Goalkeeper, Muhammad Hidhir Grade 12, recorded 3 shutouts in regulation time at the tournament. From Coach Mark Donagher, “ I received comments from almost every coach we played against remarking on how much spirit, heart and commitment the boys showed on the field. They gave their all for the school every match!” It should be recognized that player Kong Myung Jin, Brian of Grade 11 scored 11 goals in 10 games. Congratulations to all of the players and the Coach on a very exciting season.
We caught up with D2 Captain Joshua Whitley for a season summary, “In our D2 Soccer season we developed new skills and teamwork. Over the course of the season we bonded and formed a synergy between each other. Each game we learned something new on tactics and how to efficiently get the ball in the best position for scoring opportunities.
From Coach Nilan Senaratna, “It was a tough way to end the season, and certainly not ideal conditions to play in. However, these boys have definitely learned a lot. We had a very young, inexperienced team, and they showed commitment and became more coachable as the year went on. Most importantly, they dealt with the highs and lows of the season by supporting each other and really becoming a team. It will be exciting to see where these boys can go in the coming years.” The team had 1 season win and 4 losses to finish fourth place in the regular season.
