2017 CISSA Volleyball
It was a successful volleyball season for our CISSA volleyball teams. We had a strong coaching team with a wealth of experience with Mr. Randy and Mr. Benedict coaching the grade 7 and 8 boys; Mr. Nilan coaching the grade 7 and 8 Girls team; Mrs. Marie, Mr. Chris, and Mrs. Jennifer coaching our Junior teams. We were very grateful to have the support of many student coaches that showed dedication, patience and enthusiasm to their respective teams. When our Senior student athletes can share their experience as participants in SISAC and ACAMIS it is an invaluable resource to the younger students.
The Cross River Event happened across Shanghai on Saturday March the 18th. Our Senior boys entered two teams and travelled to YCIS GB, Mr. Randy told us that the Boys showed a lot of improvement throughout the year especially with their court awareness and passing skills. The Senior girls entered two teams travelling to SAS PD, Mr. Nilan and his coaching staff were really working on the Girls ability to utilize three hits, and to move and communicate as a unit they improved dramatically throughout the season. Overall, the coaches reported that our teams and student coaches were fantastic ambassadors for our school, playing hard with a lot of spirit while playing some great volleyball.
We hosted the Junior Co-ed Cross River Event here at SSIS, it was a very busy tournament with 13 teams participating from 8 different schools across Shanghai and one school from Nanjing. Our students played well showing improvement throughout the day, with some very close exciting games. The atmosphere was electric, with three courts going at the same time.
The Rep game was especially exciting, this is where coaches pick two of their all-star players that embodied the CISSA spirit throughout the tournament and season to participate in an East vs West game at the end of CRE tournaments.
We would like to thank all the coaches for their dedication and of course the students who represented the school well and practiced and competed with a positive attitude and team spirit.
